I grew up in Trinity County and then spent the past 21 years moving around this beautifully diverse nation with my active duty Air Force husband. Our three children went to nine different schools between kindergarten and high school graduation. Through all the transitions, one thing was consistent in our children’s early years of moving: Public Television.
PBS was everywhere we went, and PBS was something that we could count on to help instill our own values of education, kindness, generosity, and community. Each evening, I could go into the kitchen to prepare our family dinner and leave our young children in the living room watching children’s programing on PBS, knowing with certainty that the values imparted, were values we shared and were happy for our children to absorb.
It is an honor to work for a public television station now, able to be hands and feet in the PBS mission to educate, enlighten, and entertain. I invite you to contact me about volunteering for KIXE, exploring ways to match your time and talents in support of a PBS community that has enriched all our lives.
